How are your New Year’s Resolutions coming along? After about 2 weeks, the motivation and excitement starts to wear off and it’s always harder to stick with the goals you’ve set. Today I’m sharing 4 tips to help you stay motivated to workout!
1. Find a good workout buddy. Find someone who you know will go to the gym when you schedule a workout together. It’s a lot harder to let your buddy down than to just bail on yourself. My husband and I go together and as soon as my alarm goes off, we hop out of bed and get ready. It’s not even up for discussion if we are too tired for the day because we don’t want to let each other down.
2. Set a realistic schedule and make it a routine. Setting a goal to workout 5-7 days a week after not working out at all is going to be very hard to stick to. Start small. Maybe every Tuesday and Thursday will be a good goal or perhaps Monday, Wednesday, Friday will work for you. Pick the days you’re going to commit to and commit. In addition to this, explore what time of day works better for you and stick with it. I personally, have to workout in the morning or else I’m too tired after work.
3. Find a workout that you enjoy. If you like yoga, sign up for yoga. If you like barre classes or spin, sign up for them. When you are excited to go do a workout or think that a workout is fun, you’re going to be SO much more motivated to go.
4. Buy a cute workout outfit. I always like to add a few pieces of workout clothes to my wardrobe after the new year. It’s silly how motivating wearing a new top or pair of pants can be, but I swear it works! I recently bought these Zella pants and these Adidas shoes to get me excited about working out.
